Rates & insurance

What therapy costs here.

No surprises, no “call for pricing.” Below is what you’d actually pay, in and out of network — and what to do if none of it is affordable right now.

In network

We accept most major plans.

With insurance, most clients pay a copay between $0 and $50 per session — but it depends entirely on your plan. We can give you an estimate before your first appointment, free, whether or not you end up booking.

Check the front of your insurance card.

It takes about ten seconds, and it tells you most of what you need to know about what a session will cost you.

If you see dollar amounts
Front of card
PCP$25
Specialist$40
Urgent Care$75

You likely have a copay plan.

A flat fee every session, no matter what the session actually costs. Look for Behavioral Health or Mental Health if your card lists one — that’s the number that applies to therapy. If it doesn’t list one, the PCP amount is usually the closest in our experience, though some plans apply the Specialist rate instead.

For example: if your card lists $40 for Behavioral Health, that is what you pay each session — the same amount every time, whatever the session itself costs.
Usually $0–$50

Per session. That’s where most of our clients on copay plans land.

If you see percentages, or nothing at all
Front of card
Coinsurance20%
Deductible$1,500
Out-of-pocket max$6,000

You likely have a coinsurance plan.

You pay the full contracted rate for each session until your deductible is met, then a percentage of it after that.

For example: if the contracted rate is $100 and your coinsurance is 20%, you pay the full $100 while you are working through the deductible — and $20 a session once it is met. The percentage on your card is the share you keep paying, not the share the plan covers.
Usually $70–$115

Per session, until your deductible is met. Deductibles reset once a plan year, and not every plan runs on the same calendar — so the reset can land in a month you are not expecting.

Not sure which one you have? That’s the normal answer. We can give you an estimate of what you’d pay before you book anything. We’d rather work it out together than have cost be the reason you never start.

Our estimates come from the benefits information your plan reports to us. They’re usually close, but they are an estimate. For the most accurate picture, call the member number on the back of your card and ask about your outpatient mental health benefit — as a member you’ll usually get through faster than a provider office does.

Worth knowing: panels vary by therapist. Our licensed professional counselors are in network with all eight plans above. Our associate therapists are in network with Aetna, BCBS, Cigna/Evernorth and Curative, and are out of network for UMR and UnitedHealthcare. Every therapist’s profile lists their own panels, so you can check before you reach out. See the team →

Private pay

If you’re not using insurance.

Licensed counselors
$180–200
Per 45–60 minute session. Our LPCs and LPC-S, including EMDR-trained clinicians.
Associate counselors
$60–115
$135 first session. Fully qualified associates working under supervision. Sliding scale available.
Reduced fee
$30 or less
Available when we have a clinical intern on our team — a supervised graduate clinician. Places are limited, so ask when you reach out.

If cost is the thing stopping you, say so.

This is the most common reason people don’t start, and it’s the one we have the most room to move on. It is worth asking.

Sliding scale
Always available
Our associate therapists work on a sliding scale. If you qualify, that is the rate you pay — and it stays your rate for as long as you’re with us. It doesn’t quietly go up after a few months.
Reduced-fee sessions
$30 or less
When we have a clinical intern on our team, sessions with them are $30 or less. Availability depends on where we are in the training year, so it is worth asking.

We’d rather work it out together than have cost be the reason you never start. Tell us what you can manage when you get in touch. If we can’t make it work, we’ll point you toward community options rather than leaving you with nothing.

Questions about paying for therapy

What’s the difference between a copay and coinsurance?

A copay is a fixed amount you pay per session, collected at the time of service. Coinsurance is a percentage of the session cost that you pay once you’ve met your deductible. Which one applies depends on your plan — your member portal, or the number on the back of your card, will tell you.

What if my deductible hasn’t been met?

Until you meet it, you’ll typically pay the full contracted rate for each session, which is usually less than the private-pay rate. Once it’s met, your copay or coinsurance kicks in. Deductibles reset once a plan year, but not every plan uses the same twelve months — some run on a policy or term year that starts in a different month. Your member portal or plan documents will say when yours resets, and it is worth knowing before you start.

Can I use out-of-network benefits? Do you provide superbills?

Yes. If your plan has out-of-network mental health benefits, we’ll provide a superbill — an itemized receipt you submit to your insurer for partial reimbursement. Call the number on your card and ask about out-of-network outpatient mental health.

What’s a Good Faith Estimate?

Under the No Surprises Act, if you’re uninsured or not using insurance, you have the right to a written estimate of what your care will cost before you begin. You’ll get it automatically — you don’t have to ask.

Do you take HSA or FSA cards?

Yes. Therapy is an eligible medical expense for both.

What’s your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Inside that window the session is charged, and insurance doesn’t cover late cancellations. Life happens — call the office as early as you can at 817-778-9232 and we’ll do what we can.

Not sure what you’d pay?

We can give you an estimate when you get in touch — before you book anything.
