Privacy Policy
What happens to information you give us through this website, in plain language.
Last updated October 2026
This is not our HIPAA notice. This page explains what happens to information collected through this website — the pages you visit, the message you send us before you are a client.
Your clinical records, your sessions and anything you tell your therapist are protected health information, governed by HIPAA and by Texas law, and described in our Notice of Privacy Practices. That is the document that covers your care.
What we collect
What you choose to tell us
If you call us, email us, or fill in a request for an appointment, we receive what you put in it: usually your name, a way to reach you, and whatever you have chosen to say about why you are getting in touch.
Our appointment request form is not hosted on this website. It is run inside our practice management system, and what you enter there goes directly into that secure system rather than into the website. The same is true of the client portal.
What is collected automatically
Like nearly every website, this one records basic technical information when you visit: the pages you looked at, roughly how long you stayed, the type of browser and device you used, and the site that sent you here, if any. Our website host, Squarespace, collects this and shows it to us as aggregate traffic numbers.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site uses the ones Squarespace sets to make pages work and to count visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will still work, though some things may be less convenient.
We do not run advertising or retargeting trackers on this site. If we ever advertise, we will not put tracking pixels on the appointment request form — a pixel on a page where someone is describing why they need a therapist would send that signal to an advertising company, and we are not willing to do that.
How we use it
- To answer you, and to answer the question you actually asked.
- To work out which of our clinicians fits what you need — your concerns, your schedule, your insurance, the language you would rather speak.
- To understand which parts of the site people find useful, so we can make it clearer.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your information. We do not rent it or trade it.
- We do not use what you tell us to target advertising at you.
- We do not add you to a mailing list because you asked about an appointment.
Who else sees it
Only the companies that run the tools we use, and only so far as they need to in order to run them: Squarespace, which hosts this website, and our practice management provider, which runs the appointment request form, the client portal and our records. Both are bound to protect what they hold.
Beyond that, we release information only where the law requires it — for example a court order, or the duties Texas places on counselors to report suspected abuse of a child, an elderly person or a person with a disability, or to act when someone is in danger.
Email and text messages
Ordinary email and text messages are not secure. They can be read in transit, and they sit on servers and phones you do not control.
Please use them for simple things — asking whether we have openings, confirming a time. For anything detailed about your health or your history, call us on 817-778-9232 or use the client portal, which is encrypted.
Other websites we link to
This site links out to Google Maps for directions, to our Facebook and Instagram pages, and to our practice management system. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's website, under their privacy policy, not ours.
Children
This website is written for adults. We do see clients from the age of nine, but a parent or guardian is the one who contacts us and who gives consent. We do not knowingly collect information through this site from a child. If you believe a child has sent us something, call us and we will remove it.
Asking us what we hold
You can ask us what information we have from your contact with this website, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Call 817-778-9232 or write to us at the address below and we will respond.
If you are already a client, the rights you have over your clinical record are broader than this, and they are set out in our Notice of Privacy Practices.
Changes
If we change how this site handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the bottom. Material changes will be obvious rather than buried.
