What is therapy?
Therapy is the process of meeting with a therapist for the purpose of resolving problematic behaviors, beliefs, feelings, and/or somatic responses (sensations in the body). Therapy can address and resolve a large number of specific concerns, issues, and symptoms.
What are your hours?
Every therapist has unique hours. We are typically open M-F 9am-5pm, but we have therapists who see clients in the evenings, nights, and weekends!
What services do you offer?
We offer individual counseling, family counseling, couples counseling, EMDR therapy, trauma & grief counseling, and have many other specialties. If we are not a good fit, we can offer referrals to counseling offices or mental health facilities that can best serve you.
What are the benefits of therapy/counseling?
Mental health counseling can be beneficial in a number of ways:
What is a typical session like?
Every client and therapist is unique, subsequently, every session will be unique. A session will last anywhere from 45-60 minutes. Your first session will allow you and your therapist to get to know each other, and you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns and expectations of counseling.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept many common insurance companies. Check out the "MEET OUR TEAM" tab to see which therapist accepts your insurance.
What is an LPC-A (Licensed Professional Counselor Associate)?
A Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) is a provisionally licensed professional counselor who has completed a master’s level counseling program, passed necessary national examinations, and is currently working toward full licensure by completing a designated amount of supervised clinical counseling hours.
What is the difference between a Psychologist, Psychiatrist, and Counselor/Therapist?
What is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, a type of psychotherapy technique that is primarily used to treat trauma. It can also be used to enhance emotional resources such as confidence and self-esteem. According to the 2013 World Health Organization (WHO) practice guideline: "This therapy [EMDR] is based on the idea that negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are the result of unprocessed memories. The treatment involves standardized procedures that include focusing simultaneously on spontaneous associations of traumatic images, thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations and bilateral stimulation that is most commonly in the form of repeated eye movements."
Does going to therapy mean I'm "crazy" or "flawed"?
Definitely not, we all endure adversities throughout our lives, and occasionally, we need a little extra help. The truth is, most of us can greatly benefit from counseling.
