About RUTH MARTINEZ (SHE/HER), M.Ed., LPC, NCC
-colleyville office-
As a therapist, my goal is to build a relationship where clients feel safe and comfortable to share, providing empathy and allowing person-centered therapy to flourish. If you are struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, or other concerns that impede you enjoying life, we will work together to identify and discuss your needs and goals. I work to provide treatment that is most beneficial to you and shaped to your specific needs and I provide counseling services in both Spanish and English.
My passion for psychology and counseling that started very young, leading me to earn a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a post-graduate certificate as a Professional School Counselor. I spent many years in public education both as a teacher and school counselor. I also have experience working in a variety of settings with individuals from age 3 through adults including a Youth and Family non-profit organization as a case manager with children ages 3-17 and educator for parents/guardians. I have also worked as a program specialist and counselor in a Veterans’ drop-in center and serving as a counselor to service members, veterans, and their family members. I have additional training in Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Thanatology (the scientific study of death and the practices associated with it, including the study of the needs of the terminally ill and their families), and Graphoanalysis (the system of handwriting analysis) and I am also a member of a doctoral degree cohort at a seminary studying Counselor Education and Supervision. |
